I was so curious about the scar Luffy have under his left eyes. Since it's not a spoiler and I don't think so they will show it on anime, so I'm gonna say it, I actually read it on Manga.
When Luffy was a little boy, he once tried to threat Shanks and his crew mate with a knife to take Luffy with them in adventure. Then Luffy cutted his face under his left eyes a little bit just to scare Shanks and his crew mate, but it didn't worked well Luffy just got a scar and some scolding from Shanks and his crew mate. So, we can say that even that scars have some good memory with Shanks.
You can read it too, it's just on first chapter.

what actually happened was Luffy begging to be taken onto Shanks's crew. Shanks said no, and joked that Luffy was too much of a crybaby. To prove he was tough, Luffy stabbed himself in the face.
